Dr Dimitris Strakas DDS MSc PhD
Dr Strakas was born in 1975 in Volos Greece, where he has a private laser dental clinic since 2003. He completed his studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and his Master of Science in Lasers in Dentistry, at RWTH Aachen University.
In 2012 he established and still serves as the head of the first Laser Clinic in Greek Dental Universities in the Operative Dentistry Department at the Dental School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He is the General Secretary of International Society for Laser Dentistry, Vice-President of the Hellenic Academy for Laser Dentistry and Past-President of the Greek Society for Laser Dentistry (GSLD).
Since 2007 he is an adjunct faculty member of the Aachen Dental Laser Center (AALZ) at RWTH Aachen University and from 2009 the Scientific Director of AALZ Greece. This is the Greek branch of Aachen Dental Laser Center, providing Certified Education to dentists, with Seminars, Workshops and Mastership Courses in the fields of Laser Dentistry and Laser Safety.
He is a lecturer for the Mastership Course of the Aachen Dental Laser Center (AALZ) at RWTH Aachen University.
In 2017 he completed with excellence his PhD at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is also a University Scholar of the Operative Dentistry Department of AUTH.
Since 2019 he is a visiting Professor at MISR University of Cairo, Egypt.
He was assigned as Organizing Chairman of the 6 the European Laser Dentistry Congress in September 2017, in Thessaloniki. He was also vice-organising chairman of the 17th World Laser Congress held in October 2018, in Aachen, Germany.
He has many publications and articles on laser dentistry in Greek and international magazines. He has translated in Greek three books for Laser Dentistry. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Lasers in Dental Science (LIDS - Springer), Laser Magazine (the International magazine of Laser Dentistry by Oemus Publications) and reviewer for several peer-reviewed Journals such as Lasers in Medical Science (LIMS - Springer), Photomedicine and Laser Surgery (Mary Ann Liebert Publications) and others.
He has given a variety of lectures in Greek and International Congresses, meetings and
workshops.
